What to Expect During Your Move

Today’s the day! You have everything packed up, you have a complete inventory of all your belongings, and now you’re just waiting for our movers to come and help with the move. Whether it’s timely communication, protecting fragile items, or arriving on time, a lot of things need to go right to ensure everything goes seamlessly. Here’s a closer look at how your experience with our moving company can be seamless and free of any confusion.

Regular Reminders and Confirmations

One of the most important roles that you can play throughout the move is to keep consistent communication with our representatives. This doesn’t just allow us to offer you the best services, but it can also reduce confusion on the big day. Whether you’re moving locally or across state lines, consistent communication is essential.

A few days before the move, you will receive an email from us to confirm the details of the move. You will also get a confirmation text message a day before you’re scheduled to move as a final confirmation. You can also use this opportunity to send a video walkthrough of your belongings, which can help our team be more efficient.

Throughout the day, you should also stay active on text messages, as we will regularly share updates about your belongings and if there are any delays.

Your Dedicated Dispatcher

At California movers, we want to make sure that your move is as seamless as possible. So along with a foreman to help facilitate the move, we will also be sending in a dispatcher. They will oversee the entire move and will contact you by text for updates about your move. Our experienced dispatchers know how to handle a move and will ensure that any hiccups that come up on the way are addressed seamlessly.

Arrival Time

Since we focus on making a seamless move, our crew will reach your home in one of two time slots: the morning job or the afternoon. You can choose the timeslot that fits your specific needs, and you will also receive a text that our crew is on the way.

Morning

The morning timeframe will usually start between 8 and 9 am. Being on time is a top priority for your team, but factors outside our control could result in us being late. Whether that’s parking challenges or traffic, it is possible that we reach later than the agreed upon time. If we run into any issues on our way to your home, our dispatcher will send you a text for the estimated time of arrival. You can also ask our representative if there are any moving discounts that come with the morning slot.

Afternoon

Unfortunately, afternoon jobs do not have a guaranteed start time. Our team’s availability will usually depend on when they can successfully complete the morning job, after which they will come to you. While our dispatcher will be in contact with you, we advise booking a day with a morning slot. Along with offering you first priority for your move, the morning slot can also help you account for any elevator deadlines or regulations for your apartment.

Staying Ready

You can contact us through your dedicated dispatcher. Therefore, it is important that you have everything marked and ready for our team as soon as they arrive. Leave marks on all of the boxes that you want to load on the truck. We are also open about our trucks, licenses, and credentials to ensure transparency.

However, if we help you with packing and disassembling, then you should make an effort to declutter all of your belongings. Remember that our team is on the clock, so anything that you can do to make the move more efficient means that we can get you to your new home on time.

After the team arrives, our foreman will review the necessary paperwork and logistics before loading everything on the truck. You should also keep some of your daily essentials on hand in case of emergencies since we prefer not to open the boxes looking for your things.

Organized Chaos

Our moving team has years of experience helping people move into their new homes. But to most people watching it for the first time, it might look like there’s no rhythm to the moving process. Instead of focusing on one task at a time, you might see our movers moving from place to place, working on different things.

Each member of the team is assigned a specific task by the foreman and dispatcher, so they will all focus on accomplishing their individual tasks. However, there is a list of priorities that our tea will be focusing on.

If you have any questions or preferences about how you would prefer them to work on certain tasks, be sure to contact your assigned foreman.

The Symphony of our process

The moving day can feature a multitude of sounds throughout the time that our crew is working. From sounds of wrapping and tape to footsteps and boxes being picked up, all of these noises are just part of our process.

While you might think it a nice gesture to step in and assist our crew when they’re working, Please resist the urge to step in. Our crew has plenty of experience working with different types of objects, so sit back and watch the magic unfold.

Our process is the same whether we’re moving customers out of a home or helping an office pack up. We will be especially careful when moving furniture and luxury items like a piano.

Packing

If you prefer packing all of your belongings yourself, make sure that you secure all of the boxes to avoid any issues on moving day. Use high quality tape, and make sure to fasten everything to keep the boxes from opening during transit. If you feel unsure about the packing process, then you can simply ask our crew to help. They will also bring all of the packing supplies with them. It is also important that we mention, mover’s liability and coverage can be affected if you improperly pack something and it damages during the move.

As for packing your more valuable items, our crew:

Appliances

Will use commercial grade bubble wrap to wrap your appliances like your tv, and then storing it in a custom box.

Mirrors and other fragile goods

As for mirrors and lamps, we can also pack them in customized crates. If you wish for added protection, be sure to mention that to our representative when finalizing your quote. Check our pricing options to get a better idea of what can influence your final price.

Wardrobe Clothes

During the move, our crew will also provide you with wardrobe box rentals to store clothes that are difficult to fold. If you require more for your move, you can discuss with your foreman to arrange more of them. It is important to know that these are rentals and are not the best idea if you’re moving some of your belongings into storage.

Donations

We will also be packing all of your belongings that you would like to donate. When we drop off your things after the move, we will then go to your donation centre of choice to drop off your things. Here is a list of Places to Donate in SF.

Uninstallation and Dismounting

Please remember that our crew can help dismount appliances like TVs or expensive artwork, hardwire fixtures like AC units need to be handled by a professional. You can discuss what our team can and can’t do with our representative when deciding on a quote. This step is especially important if our team will help a senior citizen move to their new home.

Protection throughout the move

You should also inform our team in advance if you would like further protection for the extremities of your home. We do offer protection for corners, doorways, hallways, and floors, but you will have to inform us in advance.

Arriving at the destination

It is possible that you might reach your new destination before our team. Due to speed limitations and closed-off routes, our team might take slightly longer to reach you. We ensure the safety of your belongings and will keep you informed of any delays that we may face on the way.

Expectations from the customer

To ensure a seamless and positive experience, we would advise keeping an upbeat attitude even in the case of delays. Slight delays are rarely an issue, especially when focusing on the safety of your belongings.

We also require that you or a representative to be present at home throughout the move. So from the initial packing and loading, to the final unloading and unpacking, they will have to stay with our team.

We will also take pictures or record videos of items with pre-existing damage for increased transparency.

At California Movers, we make sure that you enjoy a seamless moving experience. From packing and organizing to transporting and unloading, we are careful throughout the process. Our focus is to ensure that there are no issues throughout your move. If you have more questions, you can consult our FAQs.
